LETTER: MLB Commissioner Manfred, Will You Add-Us-In?

Earlier today, we sent the following letter to MLB Commissioner Manfred and appropriate members of MLB’s leadership team:

“Greetings Commissioner Rob Manfred,

Faith Driven Consumer writes on behalf of millions of Faith Driven Consumers across America to respectfully ask that you help ensure Major League Baseball provides a clear yes-or-no response to one question:
Will Major League Baseball Welcome, Embrace, Celebrate, and Affirm Faith Driven Consumers equally?
Faith Driven Consumer is a national movement of Christ-followers whose faith shapes everyday choices in the marketplace, workplace, and public culture. We represent approximately 41 million core Faith Driven Consumers in the United States, within a broader universe of roughly 90 million Americans whose Christian faith meaningfully shapes how they live, work, spend, serve, and participate in public life.
Our request is simple, voluntary, and made in good faith.
We are not asking MLB to reduce, diminish, or withdraw its welcome for any other community. We are asking whether MLB is willing to extend equal standing to Faith Driven Consumers—welcoming, embracing, celebrating, and affirming their identity, convictions, and contributions equally with other recognized communities.
This is the heart of FDC’s Add-Us-In public call and accountability standard.
As part of FDC’s updated Faith Equality Index (FEI), we are asking MLB and other leading American institutions to answer this question clearly. We will inform Faith Driven Consumers, fans, employees, players, families, and other stakeholders of each organization’s response so they can understand where each brand stands.
For organizations that answer yes, FDC is eager to engage constructively. Those organizations will have the opportunity to activate FDC’s Corporate Pledge process and live out that commitment through measurable action, visible respect, meaningful engagement, policy clarity, and proof of performance.
For MLB, we believe this is an opportunity to do the right thing and to model fair play beyond the field.
Faith Driven Consumers are already part of the full life of Major League Baseball. They are individual fans and families, players, coaches, club and league employees, vendors, business partners, and members of the communities MLB serves. They love the game. They contribute to the culture of baseball. They buy tickets, watch games, wear jerseys, support teams, and participate in the life of the sport. They simply desire to know whether MLB will welcome them equally as Faith Driven Consumers.
Because this question touches the full life of MLB as an institution—its fans, employees, players, clubs, partners, programs, and public commitments—we wanted to make sure members of MLB’s senior leadership team were aware of the request and had the opportunity to engage constructively.
We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you, Commissioner Manfred, or the appropriate members of MLB’s leadership team. At the same time, the question before MLB is straightforward:
Will Major League Baseball Welcome, Embrace, Celebrate, and Affirm Faith Driven Consumers equally?
We look forward to MLB’s response.
Sincerely,
Chris Stone
